South Indian hottie: Sanghavi's biography



Sandalwood baby Sanghavi is a South Indian film actress and model. She has appeared in over 95 Tamil, Kannada and Telugu-language films.

Sanghavi is born on 4th October 1975 in Mysore of Karnataka State in India.

Her father was a doctor (professor, H.O.D in E.N.T in Mysore Medical College). She is Kannada film actress Aarathi's niece.

Sanghavi's real name was "Kavya Ramesh". She did her schooling in Marimallappa School in Mysore.


Before coming to the cinema she was doing modelling even from her teenage days.


She came to lime light after doing lead role in “Amaravathi” in 1993 Ajit, which happens to be debut film for both of them. She became ahearthrob of millions over a night. Till then she never loooked back.

Later she debut in Telugu film industry with "Tajmahal" movie opposite to Srikanth. She appeared as a second hero-in.

She has acted in more than 95 movies including a number of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi movies. She has acted in Hindi movies like Taj Mahal (1995) and Sher-E-Hindustan (1997) opposite Mithun Chakraborty.

It is interesting to know that her mother tongue is Kannada, but she did maximum number of films in Tamil and Telugu languages. She did very few films in kannada. She has not limited herself to glamorous roles, she dares to act in performance oriented films also. She is a perfect blend of talent and beauty.


Her career, which spanned about 15 years in the South film industry, saw Sanghavi playing many glamorous as well as meaningful character roles proficiently.

In 1997 Sanghavi appeared in a Telugu movie Krishna Vamsi's "Sinduram" and this movie fetched her the Andhra Government Nandhi award for Best Actress.

She also Roja award for best supporting actress for the movie “Porkkaallam” where Murali, Meena are also in lead roles.

Some of her movies are: Oho Naa Pellanta (1996), Porkkalam (1997), Mrugaraaju (2001), Orey Thammudu (2001) and Sandade Sandadi (2002). She was seen last in Sullan (2004) starring Pasupathy, Manivannan and Dhanush.


Earlier in her career there was a romantic linkage between Joseph Vijay and herself.

Sanghavi got secret married to Suresh Varma according to sources. They met during the making of the film Shivaiah, Sanghavi and Suresh fell in love with each other.

The whole south Indian industry men and film fans chanted her name for over a decade. It is the rarest thing in film industry especialy when the glamorous actresses are ready to strip their dress to whatever extent! It is not a miracle that she still maintains a huge fans in southern India due to her work in Kollywood, Tollywood and Sandalwood film industries.

Even today the name “Sanghavi!!” is like electric shock to the hearts millions of her fans. The whole south Indian industry men and film fans chanted her name for over a decade. Sanghavi is now acting in a TV serials. Though she is acting in a couple of films, she has decided to move on gracefully to the small screen like many other illustrious actresses before her. She joins a long list of actors like Radhika, Meena, Simran, Raasi and Suhasini in switching over to the small screen to keep in touch with their fans.
